Like most people who whittle and carve I follow Robin Wood on Facebook or Instagram. He posted an interesting discussion today related to over consumerism, encouraging everyone to think again about what how much we give at this time of year.
Regardless of how sexy the newest iPhone may be, something made by hand is about the best present you can give to a loved on. And this isn't a plug to sell my work - pick up some knitting needles and make a bobble hat; fish out the paint brushes and paint a picture; buy some clay and make a pot; maybe even pick up a knife and make a spoon or bowl. It'll have a bigger impact on the person you give to than something mass produced that's a huge drain on the environment!
A comment on Robin's post lead to this video, which is rather compelling. 20 minutes long but worth watching.
